Brendan Matthews showed he was in calculations for the 2018 Stawell Gift with a strong victory in the Maribyrnong Gift run over 100m.

As part of the incentive system developed by the VAL this victory entitles Buzz to a 0.75m lift off his normal mark for the Stawell Gift.

He will now run off 7.5m at Easter at Stawell.
