Cole Claims Olympic spot

Brendan Cole has timed his run to perfection to take out the Olympic trials in an Olympic ‘A’ standard and gain automatic selection for London 2012.

Cole’s hard work and committment to his sport was on display as he stormed down the home straight, despite strong headwinds, crossing the line in a time of 49.39.

“We discovered a new mental approach to the second haf of the race in the past month designed to not use all my biscuits in the third 100m of the race and allow me to be strong to the finish…..and it worked a treat” explained Cole after the race. “If almost felt effortless and based on my pain factor after the race I thought it would have been another 50 point run so that makes it so so exciting.”

In other squad results from the weekend

  • Lauren Boden all but locked in her position on the Olympic team with a clear victory (over 3 seconds) in the Women’s 400m Hurdles in a time of 56.01.  Training partner Chloe Jamieson finished 7th in 62.12
