Derek Collinge today took out his biggest race of his life winning the prestigious Burramine Gift and in doing so collecting $5000 and a sash.
Previously known as a 400m runner which is the event that saw him previously take a Ringwood Gift and also make a final at Stawell and recently in the Black Opal in Bendigo today showed a dofferent side to his talent taking the feature 120m event.
Running of 9.25m Collinge finished second in his semi but nailed his start in the final and then put together a close to perfect race to cross the line in a time of 12.34 and victory by about half a metre.
Derek joined the MattyB DEPT. at the end of last season and this move was certainly justified today with this victory.
In other results Brendan Matthews finished third in the 70m event.
